The other day I got a telemarketer calling me, also at work, trying to sell me cable TV. There was a moment of silence when I told her I did not have cable because I do not have a TV. I could hear the thoughts on the other side, "She has a computer and cable modem, but doesn't have a TV? What is the world coming to??"

Telemarketers at work
Someone has sold my work address to credit card people. So I keep getting credit card offers at my address in Apt 459 City County Building, instead of Room 459 City County Building.
My Boss just looks funny at me.

I got these all the time when I worked at the REC. They always were for the Tribune Review. We tried the 'take me off your list thing' without success. Then, bnagySpent several hours on the phone convincing them not to call us anymore. I got other offers too.

Remember: The key is to first get the name of the person calling. Then tell them to put you on the DO NOT CALL ME EVER AGAIN LIST. Then ask to speak to their manager.

Leather, wince, rebeat, until you get to the director of the advertising campaign. Him, you provide with a whole block of business phone numbers to NEVER CALL EVER AGAIN ON PENALTY OF PAIN, SUFFERING, AND HUGE FREAKING FINES.

Well, at first I was in shock so she actually got through part of her spiel. Then I asked "How did you get this number?" in cold dripping tones, and she's like "Um, it just came up on the computer, I don't know where it comes from." I responded with "This is my work number," still in icy tones, and she (very flustered) says "I'll remove it from the list." I said "Good." and hung up.

Stupid fucking paper. If I WANTED the paper I would ORDER it!!! :p

Generally, the rare times telemarketers get ahold of my office number, I just respond with "This is a business office," and they immediately apologize and don't call back.
